Under the influence

Previous entry Next entry

The Bible is filled with stories of ordinary people God used to fulfill His purposes here on earth. Men and women, children and teenagers who recognized that the hand of the Lord was at work on their behalf. It wasn’t always easy going, but with a deep faith and a willingness to serve, they lived their lives under the influence of GOD.

Their life stories show us what can happen when someone determines to seek God and allows Him to use them for His glory. How wonderful it must be to have this as the theme for our life and work, “The hand of the Lord was on me.”

But can we really pray like Jabez did in I Chronicles 4:10 “Oh….that Thy hand might be with me…” and is it possible that God will grant OUR request? God granted Jabez his request, so I believe this can be a reality for every one of us in this our lifetime. God has not changed.

The stories in the Bible also teach us that this is something we must prepare ourselves for, by SEEKING God. He promises that those who seek Him with all their heart will find Him. As we read our Bible we will find in its pages exactly what God wants us to be, what it is POSSIBLE to be when His hand
is with us.

As we apply God’s Word to our lives and do what He asks, that is how we make ourselves ‘useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.’ (2 Timothy 2:21) He assures us that He is definitely with those who diligently seek Him. He promises to reward them. There can be no doubt about that.

Then as we face difficult circumstances in His strength and step out in faith doing all He has said, we will see Him working through us. We will know it is God because He will do what only He can do!

“The hand of the LORD was upon me…” simply living our lives under the influence of God.
