People let us down. The promised safe secret might as well have been broadcast to the proverbial Town crier! Or pigs will fly first before that loan is repaid. Hearts broken, hopes deferred, pockets empty…
Matthew 11:13 “Are You the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
Mark 4:38 “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?”
Luke 24:21 “But we had hoped that He was the one who was going to redeem Israel…”
John 11:21 and 22 “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died!”
I can imagine the disappointment at the Tomb as Mary asked the “gardener” where he had carried the body of Jesus away to. We have all walked our own personal road to Emmaus; we have all returned to “fishing in Tiberias” whatever that might mean for us. Yet, during this season, when we remember the eternal price that Jesus paid for us on the cross at Calvary, and we celebrate His resurrection and anticipate His soon coming, let us remember that He unlike man, does not lie. He
keeps His word:
John 14:2 “In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” He has gone and will be coming back soon. Shaking off every disappointment we have experienced at the hands of our fellow man, let us look to Jesus - the One and only One who is able to keep ALL His promises to the very last letter. Hallelujah!
